07-24-17 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

July 24, 2017
Jesus said, “At the judgment, the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and there is something greater than Jonah here.  At the judgment the queen of the south will arise with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and there is something greater than Solomon here.”  Mt_12:38-42

On Friday, Jesus told the Pharisees: “I say to you, something greater than the temple is here.” Mt_12:1-8

Sometimes, beloved, when we focus on the past.  When we focus on what we think is the most important thing in the world, we miss what is right in front of our eyes.  The Pharisees were focusing on a building and on superficial laws.  They were focusing on the heroes of the past and missing the one true God who truly had the power to save them.

Jesus straight out told them that He is greater than the building, the laws and the old heroes.  And yet, they still needed more proof (beyond what was already seen).  In the end it really didn’t matter how much proof Jesus gave them, they would still not believe.  Do we believe deep enough beloved, not to need any more signs and wonders.  Jesus is the only One who will save us.  Not money, not jobs, not relationships, not pets, not fame!  Only Jesus!  Trust in Him!
