Just to finish the story that began yesterday. Ruth did follow Naomi into her land and served all the needs of her Jewish mother-in-law. There she also served in the fields of a powerful relative of Naomi’s deceased husband, who was named Boaz. Boaz took Ruth. When they came together as man and wife, the LORD enabled her to conceive and she bore a son. . . . They called him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David. Ru_2:1-3,8-11;4:13-17
All in a long line of descendants leading to our Lord and Savior, Jesus! (see Mt_1: 5-16)
All just goes to show, exactly what Jesus taught:
“The greatest among you must be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled; but whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” Mt_23:1-12
Thanks be to God for giving us the example of Ruth in faithfulness, dedication, humility and exaltation!
