08-27-17 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

August 27, 2017
(21st Sunday Ordinary Time A)
Jesus asked His disciples, “But who do you say that I am?”  Simon Peter said in reply, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.”  Mt_16:13-20

But who do you say that – I – am?

Who really is your mom or your dad?  Who are your brothers and your sisters?  Do you REALLY know?  WHO are YOU?  You know what, beloved, sometimes we don’t even know that!  Sometimes it takes a little “dialogue.”  Sometimes it takes some deep digging, with all due respect and courtesy, to truly Know anyone!

Maybe that should be our goal this week.  Let’s see if we can truly get to know just one person.  Maybe it will be a person we see every day, but really do not KNOW.  Who knows, we just might find someone we never imagined had such depth, such commonality with us.  A new soulmate.  A new limb in our Body of Christ!

And together we will build His Church, the Family of God, one “knowing” at a time, beginning with our Lord!
