10-09-17 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

October 9, 2017
The Lord said to Jonah, “Set out for the great city of Nineveh, and preach against it; their wickedness has come up before me.”  But Jonah made ready to flee to Tarshish away from the LORD.   Jon_1:1–2:1-2,11

Even though the Lord may not force us to do His bidding, or be good people (for our own sake), our lives can become pretty uncomfortable when we try to avoid Him.  Jonah was the classic example of what can happen when we try to run and hide from God.  There is NO hiding from God!  He sees all and knows all!  So, if we’re prompted by some unforeseen, internal Voice to help that stranger, to hold that door, to say something nice, or even to hold our tongue when bitterness is ready to explode from our mouths, we probably better ‘just do it.’  Or who knows, we just might be gobbled up by a big fish!!
