10-10-17 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

October 10, 2017
Jesus replied, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things.  There is need of only one thing.  Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her.”  Lk_10:38-42

Sometimes, when you’re spending a short, solitary week in paradise, you just have to let go of all those daily tasks, daily requirements that we tend to place upon ourselves.  No, it doesn’t mean that we forget our Lord.  As a matter of fact maybe we remember Him even more than usual.  And there is the thanksgiving in prayer that we heard from St. Paul a couple days ago.

Mary had chosen to savor the moment with her Lord, because they don’t come around all that often and you never know when those moments may just disappear.  Mary was accepting the gift of Jesus, while Martha was giving her gift TO Him.  And sometimes the giving is a lot harder than the receiving.  But when we can sit back and savor the moment, even for just a moment, it makes all the giving a lot easier, even when no one else offers a hand.
