12-15-17 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

December 15, 2017
Thus says the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I, the LORD, your God, teach you what is for your good, and lead you on the way you should go.  If you would hearken to my commandments, your prosperity would be like a river, and your vindication like the waves of the sea;  Is_48:17-19

Jesus was quoted saying, “Which one of you would hand his son a stone when he asks for a loaf of bread, or a snake when he asks for a fish?  Mt 7:9-10

So, neither would God not want – only the best for us, His children.  And to prove that, He gave us Commandments, and Jesus gave us Beatitudes.  And, just as when we want a light to come on, we have to flip the switch, when we want the good things in life, we look to the Creator of that life and follow His instructions.

And nowhere in those commands does it say that selfishness, greed, independence, solitude, prejudice, revenge or hatred gets us a better life.  We may feel a temporary rush (of flush) of gratitude, of accomplishment in evil, but in the end we’ll always be worse off than when we started.

God’s commands all begin and end with LOVE!  Love means giving and caring and helping and understanding and sometimes even sucking it up with a little humility and compromise.  But, in THAT end, what will come back to us is – more love, and often much, much more than we ever gave.  And that’s exactly what God wants for all of us.  Love is not temporary, beloved.

Love is ETERNAL!
