01-03-18 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

January 3, 2017
John the Baptist saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. . . .  John testified further, saying, “I saw the Spirit come down like a dove from the sky and remain upon him.  I did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘On whomever you see the Spirit come down and remain, he is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ Now I have seen and testified that he is the Son of God.”  Jn_1:29-34

This is the baptism we receive, beloved.  Not just for the forgiveness of sins, but in it, Jesus shares the Holy Spirit with us as well.  And the Spirit will guide us in all righteousness.  We will be able to discern right from wrong and can rely on Him to strengthen us to choose correctly.  And if we happen to fall in moments of weakness, He will be right there to pick us back up to battle those forces of evil over and over and over, until we get it RIGHT!  Rely on Him beloved and you just might be amazed at the strength within you!
