(Ss. Timothy and Titus, Bishops)
Jesus said to the crowds: “This is how it is with the Kingdom of God; it is as if a man were to scatter seed on the land and would sleep and rise night and day and the seed would sprout and grow, he knows not how. Of its own accord the land yields fruit, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. And when the grain is ripe, he wields the sickle at once, for the harvest has come.” Mk_4:26-34
There we go with the scattering of seeds again. But this time, as opposed to their ability to produce fruit based on the fertility of the ground on which they were scattered, Jesus is speaking particularly about the destination of those which DID bear fruit. He’s speaking about the gathering of the fruit into that Kingdom of God, that community of His beloved. He speaking about our eternal salvation! What blessed hopefulness for all of us!
