02-18-18 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

(2nd Sunday Lent, B)
The Spirit drove Jesus out into the desert, and he remained in the desert for forty days, tempted by Satan.  Mk_1:12-15

Ever been in the desert, beloved?  Lost, hot, hungry, alone!  Noah was, in the boat for 40-days and nights.  Moses was, in the Sinai for 4o-years.  And Jesus was, tempted by Satan there.  It’s not a lot of fun in the desert.  But it’s good to know that we have Jesus on our side, whenever we get to be in that situation.  He’s been there.  He knows exactly what it’s like to fight with Satan in the desert.  Rely on Him, beloved, and He will give you the strength to endure, the wisdom to know what to say or do and the courage to survive it.  And then . . . well, and then we strengthen ourselves for the next bout!  He IS our Savior!  Count on Him!
