King Nebuchadnezzar said: “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you will not serve my god, or worship the golden statue that I set up?
This little group of Daniel’s friends were so faithful to God, even though they were enslaved in a foreign land, that they outright refused the king’s demand to worship his idols. So the king set out to incinerate them. And in doing so . . .
Nebuchadnezzar rose in haste and asked his nobles, “Did we not cast three men bound into the fire?” “Assuredly, O king,” they answered. “But,” he replied, “I see four men unfettered and unhurt, walking in the fire, and the fourth looks like a son of God.” Dn_3:14-20,91-92,95
What fires are we able to walk through, beloved, only because that “Son of God” is walking with us? Sometimes life can get pretty hot. But when we invite our Lord, Jesus to walk us through it, we might even see miracles abound: like a converted, heathen king, like life where it just shouldn’t be, like hope and goodness and mercy! Hang in there beloved. And never forget your Savior!
