(Easter Sunday, The Resurrection of the Lord)
Even though John arrived at the tomb first and waited, when Simon Peter arrived after him, he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there, and the cloth that had covered his head, not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place. Then the other disciple (John) also went in, the one who had arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed. Jn_20:1-9
The impulsive, and the thinker.
The dooer, and evaluator.
The impulsive dooer didn’t know that to think about the situation, it just was. And the evaluator rationalized. By his observation he believed. He didn’t say WHAT he believed, but at least he believed that the body of Jesus wasn’t there any more. And it would still take some time before the disciples would understand exactly what happened. For it was more than just a resuscitation like Lazarus. It was a RESURRECTION. It was a sign that THIS is what life is all about. Death is not the end. It’s just a new beginning to something much, much more wonderful than this physical life ever was or could be. And it is through the love of Jesus and through our love for God and one another that we will find the gateway into this new life. Jesus says “BELIEVE!”
Aside – at least for a few days, we’ll leave the lion and lamb header picture, as we’re still getting snow here in April! Our weather lamb is not dead either. We DO expect her back here any day now!!!
