(The Annunciation of the Lord)
Ask for a sign from the LORD, your God; let it be deep as the nether world, or high as the sky! . . . the virgin shall be with child, and bear a son, and shall name him Emmanuel, which means “God is with us!”   Is_7:10-14;8:10

Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will.  Ps_40

Mary, upon receiving the announcement of the angel, said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.  May it be done to me according to your word.”  Lk_1:26-38

You know, beloved, there’s something about this story that’s too perfect not to be real, not to be true.  Our loving God wants us to ask Him for signs.  He loves to give us signs in all aspects of our lives.  We just witnessed the birth of our sixth beautiful grandchild.  There’s something just too perfect, just too miraculous in the birth of a child that cannot be anything other than the absolute creation of a loving, caring God.  And He fills our lives with all kinds of signs every day.  In birth, in death, in life, God is in it all.  All we need do is look and see!
