04-15-18 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 15, 2018
(Third Sunday of Easter, B)
Peter said to the crowd, “Repent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be wiped away.”  Acts_3:13-15,17-19

John wrote, “My children, I am writing this to you so that you may not commit sin.  But if anyone does sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous one.”   1_Jn_2:1-5a

Jesus said to his disciples, “Thus it is written that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.”  Lk_24:35-48

So, yes, Jesus does forgive our sins and reunites us with God our Father, but it is not without our own repentance!  Three times we hear today how important this repentance is.  “TURN AWAY.”  It’s a complete and final – “I will NEVER do that again!”  It’s an – “I am truly sorry.”  Jesus tells his apostles and us to repent and then go out and preach the need for repentance to EVERYONE!  They don’t have to wallow in their sorrow.  They don’t have to feel hopeless any more.  They DO have another go at reconciling with God.  Jesus gives us ALL that chance.  There IS hope!

Repent, Believe and Live!!!
