(St. Isidore, the Farmer)
St. Paul said to the priests of Ephesus, “. . . But now I know that none of you to whom I preached the kingdom during my travels will ever see my face again. And so I solemnly declare to you this day that I am not responsible for the blood of any of you, for I did not shrink from proclaiming to you the entire plan of God.” Acts_20:17-27
Jesus prayed to His Father for His disciples . . . “I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for the ones you have given me, because they are yours, and everything of mine is yours and everything of yours is mine, and I have been glorified in them. And now I will no longer be in the world, but they are in the world, while I am coming to you.” Jn_17:1-11a
Two farewell speeches. Two messengers who gave their lives to share the Word, the Love of God to those who would listen: A Father, a Son and an adopted grandson. What about us, beloved, do we pray for our brothers and sisters in the faith? Do we share that Good News of God’s love to every “creature” we come across. Maybe we don’t cross paths with a lot of people in our daily, mundane, routine lives. But God gives us all kinds of other creatures we can practice with. Did we speak with the birds singing us songs in the morning? Did we thank God that that rabbit did not find its way under our car tires? Did we speak to the trees about the Love of God for them too? All of creation groans for our words, for God’s Word, for the message of Jesus. Let them know!!!
Because one day, we will not be here any longer either.
The time is fleeting and hearts are beating,
just for you!
