05-24-18 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

May 24, 2018
Come now, you rich, weep and wail over your impending miseries.  Jas_5:1-6

Blessed are the poor in spirit; the Kingdom of heaven is theirs!  Mt_5:3

Jesus said to his disciples:  “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were put around his neck and he were thrown into the sea.”  Mk_9:41-50

Tough words again today!  Helps us to review our lives and see where we are headed.  Are our riches our material wealth the priority of our lives?  Do we need a priority adjustment?  Are we blessed because we’re poor and suffering?  Or does that poverty mean something else?  As we said yesterday – poverty of spirit!

Is our lifestyle negatively influencing those who do not know any better, like the children?  How about our language?  How about our sense of revenge or forgiveness?  Are we showing love, or just hatred and anger in all the workings of our lives – our job, our boss, our president, even our pastor?

Jesus warns us today to always keep a check on all those thoughts and actions.  Yes, lots of things might rub against us negatively.  The question is, how are we managing them?  If it’s not something we can change, then why let it get us all in a tizzy!  Move on!  Create your own bubble of happiness with Jesus as your center.  He and the Holy Spirit will see you through, whatever it is you’re struggling with (even death).  Count on it!
