06-14-18 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

June 14, 2018
Jesus said, “if you bring your gift to the altar, and there recall that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there at the altar, go first and be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” Mt_5:20-26

It’s a very fine line, this line of righteousness.  Jesus tells us that we’re not to be angry at anyone!  Not the driver who cut us off, not the cashier who seemed unmoved by our urgency to get somewhere else, and not even our employees or kids who seem to have totally lost their sense of hearing.  We are NOT to be impatient, or angry, or vindictive.  And knowing that our rewards for those actions are the eternal fires of hell, we have all the more reason for dousing the fires in our own hearts.  When we can replace them with streams of life-giving LOVE (that we can only have through the Holy Spirit), then not only will those fires of hell be erased from our future, but even our present will be filled with peace.  The peace that only LOVE can bring!
