06-20-18 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

June 20, 2018
Jesus said to his disciples: “Take care not to perform righteous deeds in order that people may see them; otherwise, you will have no recompense from your heavenly Father.”  Mt_6:1-6,16-18

If we’re not doing it out of our love for others, if we’re not doing it out of obligation to a boss or a superior, we should be doing it out of our love for God and not for our own self-aggrandizement.  That’s righteousness!  And the same can be said for humility.  We don’t humble ourselves so that people can say “Oh isn’t he humble.”  Then we’re really not humble at all, we’re actually conceited!

Righteousness and humility are FOR God alone.  Yes, in the end it kinda makes us feel good too.  But that shouldn’t be our sole reason either.  It is God’s will for us!  It builds His kingdom, both here and now and for eternity.  And THAT should be our primary Goal in life!  That’s our baptismal promise!

All for the Glory of God!
