(Transfiguration of the Lord)
St. Peter exclaimed, “we had been eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received honor and glory from God the Father when that unique declaration came to him from the majestic glory, “This is my Son, my beloved, with whom I am well pleased.” We ourselves heard this voice come from heaven while we were with him on the holy mountain. Moreover, we possess the prophetic message that is altogether reliable. You will do well to be attentive to it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.” 2_Pt_1:16-19
Imagine, beloved, witnessing something so indescribable, so unbelievable that if you even mentioned it, they’d be getting out the straitjackets and preparing the padded rooms for you. And yet, if you didn’t proclaim it from the rooftops, you’d be depriving hundreds, or millions, or billions from the benefits, the salvation that God had prepared for them. That’s quite a responsibility!
Well, we haven’t been eyewitnesses. But we have become believers in what the Apostles and their immediate followers have described to us about Jesus. He IS the Son of God! He came, or was sent, as testimony of God’s great love for us. And He, even in His divinity, allowed the evil of mankind to cause Him great suffering and death for the sake of our salvation. All of this to teach us too, how we should be loving and living for one another.
“This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.
Listen to Him!”
He is our light in the darkness and
the morning star in our hearts!
Happy Birthday today to my most beloved wife, friend and partner, Mary Ann. All my love always, honey. And God’s blessings to you always!
