(The Passion of St. John the Baptist)
Blessed are you who fear the LORD,
who walk in his ways!
For you shall eat the fruit of your handiwork;
blessed shall you be, and favored. Ps_128
Jesus said, “Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him the Father, God, has set his seal.” Jn_6:27
Whatever it is, beloved, in this life that thrills our eyes, that fills our stomachs, that gives us pleasure will be passing away. That doesn’t mean we don’t savor all of those awesome gifts of God. It just means that we don’t live only for them. There will be trials and temptations. There will be sickness and death. But in the end, if we keep God always as our top priority. If we fear Him and we work according to His will in this life, then we will experience a new life that so far surpasses this one, that we will not even imagine how we ever survived this worldly life without Him as close as He will be to us then.
So stay close now, beloved!
Live for Jesus, as He’s lived and died for us!
