(St. Francis of Assisi)
Job said, “But as for me, I know that my Vindicator lives, and that he will at last stand forth upon the dust; Whom I myself shall see: my own eyes, not another’s, shall behold him, And from my flesh I shall see God; my inmost being is consumed with longing.” Jb_19:21-27

Jesus appointed seventy-two other disciples whom he sent ahead of him in pairs to every town and place he intended to visit. . . He said, Whatever town you enter and they welcome you, eat what is set before you, cure the sick in it and say to them,
‘The Kingdom of God is at hand for you.’  Lk_10:1-12

St. Francis was also consumed with longing for his Lord, Jesus.  He was so consumed, that he actually took on the wounds of Jesus’ passion.  Marked with the stigmata, St. Francis boldly proclaimed that Kingdom in every town he visited, while also curing the sick and preaching to Muslim warriors.  Our true model of love for the unlovable and for His God, Francis lived the command of Jesus ‘to Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your strength.’  And so should we, beloved, and so should we!!!
