(St. Ignatius of Antioch, Bishop and Martyr)
St. Paul wrote, “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit.” Gal_5:18-25
OH, the struggle between the flesh and the Spirit, beloved! To look upon all the trials of life, all the spears and arrows poking us from all directions, from the spiritual view of “thanks be to God for allowing me to suffer the passion of Christ in my own body.” It’s not easy! But Jesus will help us for the asking. We don’t have to do it alone! Help us Lord to be deserving of those fruit of Your Spirit within us. Protect us from the evil of the world and the evil we battle within ourselves against their spears and arrows!
