10-18-18 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

October 18, 2018
(St. Luke, Evangelist)
The Lord Jesus appointed seventy-two disciples whom he sent ahead of him in pairs to every town and place he intended to visit.  He said to them, “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest. . . . “ Lk_10:1-9

This is what they were called to do: 1. Offer peace, 2. Share the breaking of bread with them, 3. Cure the sick and 4. Say, ‘The Kingdom of God is at hand for you.’  For Jesus your Lord is about to visit here.  Welcome Him and He will bless you!

What a beautiful message, beloved!  It’s almost hard to imagine anyone rejecting it, or those who brought it.  And yet they did.  Ever give a gift to someone who immediately threw it back at you in refusal?  Ever offer a hand only to be ignored or shunned?  It just doesn’t make any sense.  Well, we don’t have to look very far today to find the same kind of non – sense.  We are a very polarized world:  The people of love and the people of hate.  The people of life and the people of death.  The people of order and the people of chaos.   And yet there is hope, beloved.

Jesus said, shake the dust from your feet when they reject you, for you don’t even want their dust clinging to you.  Love God, and don’t let them upset you!  And stay tuned for tomorrow’s Gospel!
