(Solemnity of All Saints)
See what love the Father has bestowed on us that we may be called the children of God. Yet so we are. . . . Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we shall be has not yet been revealed. We do know that when it is revealed we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this hope based on him makes himself pure, as he is pure. 1_Jn_3:1-3
Ahhh. In response to yesterday’s insecurity of ever being pure enough for God, St. John gives us reason: “we shall be like Him,” and the means!
If we were promised the most outrageously wonderful gift the world has to offer – a billion, billion dollars, peace and security, would we not be willing to do whatever it takes to gain it?
And yet, the gift that God offers us makes that worldly gift pale in comparison. It is so, so outrageously awesome that it can’t even be described in worldly terms. And not only does God offer it freely, but He even helps us in doing what it takes to gain it. Through the grace of the Holy Spirit we will be strengthened to be able to do WHATEVER it takes to attain that purity of soul. All we need do is Believe and Follow His guidance, and that of Jesus from the Scriptures.
God will see us to the Beatific Vision when we allow Him to do just that. And there is our hope. And there is our life! The saints did it and so can we!
Happy November, beloved!
God’s blessings always!
