11-03-18 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

November 3, 2018
(St. Martin de Porres, Religious)
Jesus said, “when you are invited, go and take the lowest place so that when the host comes to you he may say, ‘My friend, move up to a higher position.’  Then you will enjoy the esteem of your companions at the table. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” Lk_14:1,7-11

Well, there’s that old principle of inverse expectations.  Whatever you expect will never come to you, but whatever you profess to dislike will be yours unquestionably!  Always wanted to be liked, you’ll wind up the loneliest person you know.  Rich to poverty.  Healthy to chronic.   Happy to sad.  So quench those expectations, beloved!  Be satisfied with what life deals to you and when you least expect it, you will finally discover what you’ve always wanted – life and love with God!
