11-06-18 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

November 6, 2018
One of those at table with Jesus said to him, “Blessed is the one who will dine in the Kingdom of God.”  He replied to him, “A man gave a great dinner to which he invited many.  When the time for the dinner came, he dispatched his servant to say to those invited, ‘Come, everything is now ready.’  But one by one, they all began to excuse themselves…”  Lk_14:15-24

Ever happen to you, beloved?  You make all those plans for the most wonderful event.  You prepare and send out invitations.  You request RSVP’s, many of which are never answered.  And when it finally gets to be time for the big event, everyone begins to excuse themselves!

Jesus gave another similar parable about not even inviting those who would feel obligated to repay you, but said, instead, that we should invite the poor and those unable to repay, because it’s not about the repayment – it’s about the giving, the generosity, the love!  God is inviting all of us, beloved, to join with him in the banquet of His generosity and love.  What will be our response?  Too busy, too guilty, to embarrassed to not be able to repay?  God doesn’t want our repayment (as Jesus tells us).  He’s just looking for our willingness to accept His love with no strings attached!
