02-05-19 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

(St. Agatha, Virgin and Martyr)
There was a woman afflicted with hemorrhages for twelve years. She had suffered greatly at the hands of many doctors and had spent all that she had. Yet she was not helped but only grew worse. She had heard about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak. She said, “If I but touch his clothes, I shall be cured.” Immediately her flow of blood dried up. She felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction.  Mk_5:21-43

“She had SUFFERED GREATLY at the hands of MANY DOCTORS and SPENT ALL that she had.”  And here we are 2000-years later still doing the same thing!  To all the doctors out there, I’m sorry, for I’m sure there must be some good ones out there somewhere, but I’m one of those people who just don’t believe in them.  I hear more stories of people suffering at their hands both physically and financially, that it’s just one of those things I’d rather avoid!

On the other hand, I am one of those people who truly believe in the power of prayer.  This woman in today’s Scripture had done it all.  She spent her last cent on those quacks and no doctor could heal her.  And yet, her FAITH in Jesus could.  How many people do you know, beloved, who were miraculously healed through their faith and the power of prayer?  I know quite a few.

As for me, I’m more looking forward to the next life than to drag out this one through the pills and hospitals and whims of some crazy doctors (and no offense to those few good ones)!  But, praise be to God for our Faith and for our Savior, Jesus.
