02-14-19 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

February 14, 2019
(Ss. Cyril, Monk and Methodius, Bishops)
(St. Valentine)
Of all the animals and birds that the LORD had created for the man, none proved to be the suitable partner for the man.  So the LORD God cast a deep sleep on the man, and while he was asleep, he took out one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh.  The LORD God then built up into a woman the rib that he had taken from the man.  When he brought her to the man, the man said:  “This one, at last, is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; this one shall be called ‘woman,’ for out of ‘her man’ this one has been taken.”   Gn_2:18-25

So, no, she wasn’t created to be his competition.  She wasn’t created to be his slave.  And she wasn’t created to be a thorn in his flesh.  Woman was created to be his partner!  Complementary!  That means they complement each other.  Better together than either one could ever had been alone.  Why can’t we get that through our thick skulls?  God created us as “partners!”  Why can’t we be just that!
