(Ash Wednesday)
Even now, says the LORD,
return to me with your whole heart,
with fasting, and weeping, and mourning;
Rend your hearts, not your garments,
and return to the LORD, your God.
For gracious and merciful is he,
slow to anger, rich in kindness,
and relenting in punishment.
Perhaps he will again relent
and leave behind him a blessing,

Lent . . .
A time for deep, internal reflection.
How have I given thanks to my God?
How have I shown kindness to my fellow-man?
How have I kept from doing those things that would make our God not be very proud of me.
He is our life and our salvation.
He is behind the windows of every eye we peer into.
He is the One, like a good father, like a good shepherd, like the very best of bosses, who drives our desire to please, in every way we possibly can.
It’s time to be honest with ourselves, beloved!
Time to give thanks, show kindness and drop any disdain in our hearts. Time for sanctification!
He IS waiting for us and Jesus and the Holy Spirit are right here to give us all the help and support we need! Trust in Him!
