04-17-19 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

(St. Kateri Tekakwitha)
The Lord GOD has given me a well-trained tongue, that I might know how to speak to the weary a word that will rouse them.   Is_50:4-9a

No, Lord, I’m too worn out.  I’m too tired.  I’m too weary!  How do we rouse the weary, beloved?  Or maybe it’s even us!  The prophets, like Isaiah, spoke the Word of God and all we seem to hear is how badly they were persecuted.  But we less frequently hear of the arousals.  Yes, there were arousals!  People who had fallen asleep in their pain, in their poverty, in their hopelessness.  Jesus had to endure the same persecution as the prophets, but even to the point of death.  And in His case we know of many, many arousals, healings and conversions.  Jesus IS the Word.  And just knowing and living in Him will awaken us, as well, beloved.  And in that love of Jesus we will find comfort in our suffering.  We will find solace in our loneliness.  And we will find the hope that will arouse our endurance in this world and our thriving in the next.

He IS the Resurrection and the Life!
