04-20-19 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 20, 2019
(Holy Saturday – Easter Vigil)
If, then, we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him. We know that Christ, raised from the dead, dies no more; death no longer has power over him. As to his death, he died to sin once and for all; as to his life, he lives for God. Consequently, you too must think of yourselves as being dead to sin and living for God in Christ Jesus. Rom_6:3-11

The disciples were not sitting around in anxious expectation.  They were in deep mourning, utter depression over what had just happened.  Their best friend and master was killed.  Three years of their lives just went up in smoke.  Just think of all the work that goes into your computer, beloved, being lost in an instant.  Oh my gosh.  What have I done, what have we done, what have they done?  And YET!  And yet, Jesus didn’t come to waste our time.  Jesus didn’t come to make us feel bad.  Jesus came to teach us a lesson.  There really IS more to life beyond that black curtain we call death.  And His life is the proof!  And with that proof, we now have “REASON.”  We have reason to be good.  We have reason to love others, even those we dislike!  We have reason not to fear death but to understand that it is just another transition in these awesome lives God has given us.  What are we doing with those lives?  Where is our hope in all this hopelessness we call life?  Our HOPE is in God.  And our reason is JESUS!!!
