Jesus said to the unbelieving crowds, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.” Jn_6:30-35
So, what will it take, beloved, for us to truly believe? Throughout His ministry, Jesus shared meals with His disciples and the crowds that followed Him. They understood the importance of eating and even more so, got to understand the importance of community. Jesus always ate in community! And at His last meal together with His disciples He made the final tie between food and community to His own life and ours. In that first Eucharistic celebration the Sacrament was consecrated. Jesus IS that bread of life, body, blood, soul and divinity, that we share together in every Mass. And by it, through Him, we grow in holiness and unity with Jesus and every other person in the world who similarly shares that Eucharistic Sacrament! No more hunger, no more thirst, Jesus is our all in all!
