05-28-19 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

May 28, 2019
Jesus said to his disciples: “Now I am going to the one who sent me, and not one of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ But because I told you this, grief has filled your hearts. But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go.  For if I do not go, the Advocate will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.”  Jn_16:5-11

Sometimes, beloved, GOOD really can come from grief.  It doesn’t make the endurance of the grief any easier.  But Jesus did His best to try to convince His disciples that it would all be for the good!  And looking back, it was!  Not only for them but for us as well.

As we come closer to our celebration of the day the “Advocate” did come, Pentecost, we remember not only the joy of the Holy Spirit’s dwelling within us, but the suffering and the grief and even more so, the Love of God for us that made it all possible.  And we repent of our errors in life.  And we give thanks for God’s great love and for Jesus’ great sacrifice.  And we offer that love to every living soul we meet.  Just as God does for us!
