(The Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary)
At Mary’s visit with her cousin, Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, “Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.” . . .  And Mary responded, “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, . . .”  Lk_1:39-56

It’s in those times, beloved, when we most have the option to be proud of other’s compliments of us, that we give all the thanks to God.  For without God we are nothing.  Whether it’s something we said, or something we’ve done, it is all done through the grace and in our worship of our God.  Mary didn’t proclaim her pride in listening to and following the orders of God, which she had perfect right to do.  Instead, she proclaimed HIS greatness.  She spoke of His promises to their nation and people.  And she mentioned, in her own humble way, that she would be His instrument for the salvation of the world.  What a marvelous model for us to follow, as well, beloved.  Visit our neighbors, proclaim God’s mercy and kindness to all, and leave the world with Hope! Praise be to God!
