(St. Barnabas, Apostle)
In those days a great number who believed turned to the Lord. The news about them reached the ears of the Church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to go to Antioch. When he arrived and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced and encouraged them all to remain faithful to the Lord in firmness of heart, for he was a good man, filled with the Holy Spirit and faith. Barnabas knew that challenges to the faith would eventually befall everyone. It happened 2000-years ago and it happens today, as well. What is it beloved that will get you turned away from the Lord? Yes, the Church is fully composed of normal mortal beings. We have our personalities, our quirks, our errors and our goodness. And those will not always be agreeable to everyone. But our God is a loving and merciful God and he forgives us all. Keep that forgiveness in mind beloved, when the next Church person you run into is not quite of your mindset and liking. Then, know that the Lord, whom we worship, would want nothing less than our love for them. And in that love, as Barnabas tells the faithful of Antioch, we are to never lose our faith! For our Faith is, in the end, what will lead us to the Salvation that Jesus gained for us at such a mighty cost. All out of Love!
