06-18-19 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

June 18, 2019
Jesus said, “But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust. . . . So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.”  Mt_5:43-48

If the Creator of the universe and of all mankind, who knows us to the very core of our being, could ask of us to make a choice that we may feel is impossible, then why should we not believe Him?  How can we not take that leap of faith, believing that God knows exactly what He’s asking of us?  And how can we not believe that it is only for our own good that He asks it.  “Love your enemies.”  It’s not impossible!  And beyond the actual doing of it, there is the reward of heavenly perfection, the reward of eternal glory!
