(St. Francis Solano, OFM, Priest)
At that time Jesus exclaimed: “I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.” Mt_11:25-27
Childlike, beloved, does not mean silly, or stupid, or ignorant. Actually some children are much, much more wise than many adults. Jesus is telling His disciples and us, beloved, that if we really want to be wise in God’s eyes, we need to let go of all the worldly “smarts” we think we know and depend, like a child, on Jesus and the Holy Spirit to teach us true wisdom. And it all begins with Love!
