07-26-19 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

(Ss. Joachim and Anne, Parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary)
In those days: God delivered all these commandments:  “I, the LORD, am your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery. You shall not have other gods besides me. You shall not carve idols for yourselves in the shape of anything in the sky above or on the earth below or in the waters beneath the earth; you shall not bow down before them or worship them . . . Ex_20:1-17

ONLY in the Lord shall we worship!  Not our cars, nor our football teams, nor our jewelry, nor our money, nor our houses, nor our children, nor our spouses!  ONLY in God!  It all begins with God – and actually, it all ends with God as well, beloved.  In the meantime, we can be enamored with our spouse and our children.  We can favor one team over others.  We can work our tails off on our cars and houses.  But none of those has the endurance, the “fear,” the respect, the worship of us, as does God.  God IS and always will be – OURS – first and foremost!  And that we are never to forget!

It is the FIRST rule of life!

Lord, you have the words of everlasting life.
(John 6:68c)
