(18th Sunday Ordinary Time, C)
Jesus said, “Take care to guard against all greed, for though one may be rich, one’s life does not consist of possessions.” Lk_12:13-21
Your trophies, your patents, all those letters after your name, your newly awarded position at work that took years to finally attain, your boats and cars and prized hobbies, your stocks and savings and house and perfectly manicured lawn, none of these can you take with you after this phase of life is over. But your prayers and your donations, your volunteer work for others, your giving and thanksgiving and that smile you put on when you just didn’t feel like it, all of these are what make for eternal life with God. These are the savings account you CAN take with you. And God is counting on YOU to build it to the skies. Let’s start building, beloved. And we’ll see you on the other side, with Jesus!
