08-09-19 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

August 9, 2019
Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.  For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”  Mt_16:24-28

The harder sayings.  The deeper sayings.  Sometimes what Jesus tells His disciples and us, beloved, is a little hard to swallow.  These are the sayings we need to ponder.  These are the sayings we need to ask the Holy Spirit to help us understand.  What are the crosses that we have to bear?  And how are we bearing them?  Are we dumping them on every other person we meet?  Or are we quietly managing, seeking the Lord’s support?  Are we willing to lose a little of this “worldly life” in order  to gain eternal life with God?  The Holy Spirit is always here to help.  Seek His support, beloved, and you will not be disappointed!
