08-13-19 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

August 13, 2019
The disciples approached Jesus and said, “Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven?” He called a child over, placed it in their midst, and said, “Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the Kingdom of heaven.  Whoever becomes humble like this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.  And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me. Mt_18:1-5,10,12-14

Unless you TURN . . .

Unless we turn away from our sin.  Unless we turn away from our infatuation with self.  Unless we turn away from our precious independence, we will simply just be us.  Unless we can turn towards the humility, the dependence, the selflessness of a little child, beloved, we’ll never get much of anywhere in this life or the next.

Jesus wants us to turn to Him, to rely on Him, to depend on Him.  It really takes some effort to let go of our pride, beloved, our self-centeredness.  But when we do, when we can allow ourselves to turn back into children, we just might be AMAZED at what we will find ourselves accomplishing in the arms of our most blessed Lord!
