08-21-19 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

August 21, 2019
(St. Pius X, Pope)
Jesus told a parable, referring to the Kingdom of God, about a landowner who hired workers throughout a day.  When it came to payment time the ones who worked all day were upset that their partners, who only worked an hour, got equal payment.  Jesus concluded the story having the landowner say;  “Are you envious because I am generous?”  Mt_20:1-16

Moral of the story being – we need to mind our own business and just do the very best job we can, no matter how long it is.  There are people in life who have all different kinds of reasons for not being the same as others or ourselves.  It’s not our place to judge, because we’ll never know the whole of their stories.  Only God does that.  And if there are those who enter His Kingdom at the moment of their death, after living in sin all their lives, after we devoted decades to being righteous, it’s still not our place to judge.  It could just as well have been us!  Thank God for the strength to have endured and the peace to have not allowed jealousy or judgment to have taken away that peace!  And thank God for his generosity!
