08-27-19 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

August 27, 2019
(St. Monica)
O LORD, you have probed me and you know me; you know when I sit and when I stand; you understand my thoughts from afar.  My journeys and my rest you scrutinize, with all my ways you are familiar. Ps 139

Hmmmm, sounds like the internet; following our every key stroke and especially our research on purchases!  Major difference being, the web is trying to gouge us, whereas God is trying to save us!  Biblical case in point, Jesus was constantly at odds with the Jewish religious leaders, who were treading down the wrong path . . .

Jesus said, “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites.  You cleanse the outside of cup and dish, but inside they are full of plunder and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup, so that the outside also may be clean.”  Mt_23:23-26

Just makes us wonder, beloved, what part of the inside of us can use a little cleansing?  If we’re willing to let it go, the Holy Spirit will surely help us out with His ‘holy scrub brush.’  It may be a little painful at first, but in the end, a blessing is always much more appealing than a “woe.”
