09-23-19 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

(St. Pius of Pietrelcina, Priest, ‘Padre Pio’)
Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father. Mt_5:16

Jesus said to the crowd: “No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel or sets it under a bed; rather, he places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light.  Lk_8:16-18

And we might be thinking, ‘What light?’  Well, God has given every one of us varying degrees of His light.  It might not be our looks, or our singing voices, or our skills with computers, but somewhere within us, we all have a glimmer of His light.  It may show in our LOVE, despite our poverty.  It may be our joy, despite our inner suffering.  It may be our patience or our kindness or even those beauties that are clearly obvious.  Whatever they are, Jesus is reminding us today of why God has given them to us.  He wants us to BE His light to the world:  where your beauty can cheer up a disheartened soul.  Where your wisdom can help the helpless out of a hopeless mess.  Where your musical talents can change the heart of the downtrodden.  SHINE your light, beloved.  And God will shine His all the brighter upon you as well!
