Jesus said, “Take care to guard against all greed, for though one may be rich, one’s life does not consist of possessions.” . . . And to the wealthy, greedy one He said ‘this night your life will be demanded of you; and the things you have prepared, to whom will they belong?’ Thus will it be for the one who stores up treasure for himself but is not rich in what matters to God.” Lk_12:13-21
If we think that all there is to life is merely what we see and physically have in the now, then, we’re greatly missing the big picture, beloved.
If we were to consider the time of the entire span of our life as a distance, it might extend from here to all the way around the world (though it would actually be much farther, infinity). And in that case, the physical, birth-to-death portion of that life would be less than the span of a grain of sand. And within the time of that grain of sand we have been graced by God to make the decision, the choice, as to whether we want the rest of that globe’s time span of ours to be with God or not.
If we choose it to be with Him, then we’ll recognize the insignificance of worldly pleasures and possessions in comparison to the eternal joy we gain by bringing Christ’s love to others, regardless of any sacrifice or cost, in this short, grain of sand time span of our physical now!
May His peace and love be with you always, beloved!
