“Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth; you have revealed to little ones the mysteries of the Kingdom.” Mt 11:25
Jesus said, “What is the Kingdom of God like? To what can I compare it? It is like a mustard seed that a man took and planted in the garden. When it was fully grown, it became a large bush and ‘the birds of the sky dwelt in its branches.'” Again he said, “To what shall I compare the Kingdom of God? It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of wheat flour until the whole batch of dough was leavened.” Lk_13:18-21
Youthful, patient endurance for enormous growth!
When we were children, beloved, we hoped for a world of great possibilities. And as that world slowly beat all the hope out of us, we turned what was left to survival, to healing, and to a better generation, yet to come. And yet, also living what seems to be an eternal autumn, our hopes turn to a new springtime. And we prepare this seed (of ourselves), in patient endurance, to yield a new tree. A tree with such magnificence that all the preparation will seem as nothing, a mustard seed, in comparison to the wonder, the beauty, the size and the perfection of what is to come. And we trust, in faith, that this is exactly what Jesus had in store for each and every one of us. This IS our true hope and this is His promise!
