12-11-19 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

December 11, 2019
Jesus said to the crowds: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”  Mt_11:28-30

Jesus offers us the gift of peace.  He doesn’t tell us that life will always go exactly the way WE want it to go.  He doesn’t tell us that we’ll never have troubles, or pains, or difficulties.  But He does tell us, that IF we follow His lead, it will be a lot less painful than if we do not.

You see, the way of Christ’s peace is a way of Love.  Jesus tells us that IF our lives are filled with anxiety, it’s not that anxieties don’t come to everyone, but with Love in the picture, we can learn to accept them much better than when we allow them to entangle us in fear and hatred and anger.  And when we allow that, it then reflects on everyone else we come in contact with and our peace is even farther away.

Do we want peace?
We have to find it within ourselves first.

Do we want love?
We have to first love ourselves.

Are other people frustrating and aggravating, and always seem to rub us the wrong way?  Yes, they are. But the only way we’ll ever find that peace of Christ is by loving them anyway!

I always had, and still have, a hard time with people who insist on driving inches from the back end of my car.  So, with the Lord’s help, I found a way to get over it.  I’ve moved my rear view mirror so that I cannot see anything behind me.  I drive the speed limit and when that’s not good enough for the person behind me, they can do whatever they want, but it will not bother me, unless, of course they hit me.

And even then, after a bunch of prayer and a whole lot of love, I can deal with that too.

You see, there are all kinds of ways that we can live in peace.  But the best of all is that Love of Jesus.  His yoke is easy and His burden is light!
