03-15-20 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

March 15, 2020
(3rd Sunday of Lent)
Jesus said to the Samaritan woman at the well, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again; but whoever drinks the water I shall give will never thirst; the water I shall give will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” . . .
He continued, “Believe me, woman, the hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You people worship what you do not understand; we worship what we understand, because salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth; and indeed the Father seeks such people to worship him. God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and truth.”   Jn_4:5-42

The Samaritan woman was living in the Physical World, while Jesus was discussing the Spiritual.  The woman was talking about nutritional thirst, while Jesus was explaining Spiritual Life.  The woman was discussing the physical worship of place, while Jesus was offering the True spiritual worship in soul.

Where are we beloved, in our faith?  Are we living in that physical realm of action, with little to no true spiritual belief?  Or are we truly believing in God in a spiritual sense, such that our actions are simply manifestations of that belief?  It does take a little work to let go of our infatuation with the physical side of life, in order to truly be infused with the spiritual.  But it is well worth more than the effort, to become truly one with God in Spirit and in Truth.

Come, beloved.
Climb the stairway to Heaven!
Jesus will be our guide!
