The angel brought Ezekiel along a river that began as a trickle at the sanctuary of the Temple of the Lord. He said, “Along both banks of the river, fruit trees of every kind shall grow; their leaves shall not fade, nor their fruit fail. Every month they shall bear fresh fruit, for they shall be watered by the flow from the sanctuary. Their fruit shall serve for food, and their leaves for medicine.” Ez_47:1-9,12
Jesus, in speaking with a Samaritan woman at an ancient well said, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again; but whoever drinks the water I shall give will never thirst; the water I shall give will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” Jn_4:13-14
Jesus offers us the spring. And as we grow in our faith, and that faith becomes deeper and deeper. We eventually become the trees who feed the rest of the world the fruit of His love. And that love brings healing to the world.
In the midst of a world-wide crisis of fear and disease and economic collapse, God is the hope and the healing and the life of us all. In the midst of isolation and closure and distancing, we are still the leaves of healing and love to all who have lost precious loved ones, to all who are suffering, to all who not only are isolated but feel that isolation in core of their souls.
God never abandons us, beloved. Trust in Him, just as Jesus still trusted on the 39th day of his desert retreat. God is our light and our life, our hope and our health. TRUST!
