03-28-20 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

March 28, 2020
the guards went to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked them, “Why did you not bring him?” (Jesus)  The guards answered, “Never before has anyone spoken like this man.”  Jn_7:40-53

Funny, it just reminds me of many a boss I’ve had in my professional scientific career.  They knew what the answer they wanted was.  And yet if the experiment, the results, the data showed otherwise, they refused to even listen to anything other than their own preferences.

A group of the Jewish leaders had it in their minds that Jesus was a threat to their notoriety. And nothing Jesus could do, or others could profess about Him, could change their rock hard stubbornness.  And that went all the way to creating their own false witnesses.  Hmmm, sounds like 21st century politics, doesn’t it!

But this was not to condemn all Pharisees and Sadducees.  There were Pharisees like Nicodemus and Gamaliel who did believe in righteous justice if not in Jesus Himself!  So what do we do, beloved, when our leaders are heading down the wrong path and trying to drag us down with them?   Well, we take our stand, just like Jesus did, without breaking the rules, but making the right path well known to all who “hear.”
