05-31-20 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

(Pentecost Sunday)
When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.  And suddenly a sound came from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.  And there appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributed and resting on each one of them.  And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.   Acts_2:1-11

Fire, Wind and Tongues.  It was quite an experience.  They were forewarned by Jesus.  And they were anxiously awaiting this moment.  What would happen?  Who was this Holy Spirit?  How would the world be changed from that moment on?

And it surely was changed!  The Holy Spirit’s FIRE burned away all the impurities in their souls.  Burned away all their inhibitions.  Burned away all their fears.  Now they were truly free!  Free to preach and to call and to love – even their enemies.

The Holy Spirit blew them away with his mighty wind.  Away from all that they thought was the most important things in the world, in their lives.   And He strengthened them to live only the TRUTH of Jesus.  That Truth that said that God loves them no matter what!

What better “Good News” could there possibly be, beloved!  If God loves us that much, then nothing and no one can stand in our way.  In our way from loving everything and everyone!  We become one with God, just as Jesus wanted, when we allow the Holy Spirit of Pentecost to infuse our souls with His Gifts, with His love!

And in the process we lose control of our tongues.  No more useless chatter.  Only praise and prayer and affection toward the One and only God, who lives and reigns in every one of us.  What a blessing is this Mighty Holy Spirit!  What LOVE!
